Canada Bound - The Beautiful Province of British Columbia

Log Entry #8
After a couple of phone calls during breakfast on Tuesday morning I was able to find a BMW dealer 3 hours north of Oroville Washington in Kelowna BC that had tires that fit the GSA.
As soon as I got underway toward Canada the gremlins returned! 18 lbs. pressure in the rear tire, not this again!
Fill it up with air one more time and go for broke! I figured it took all night to loose 22 lbs. so a quick ride into Canada should be no problem!
Luckily crossing the border was no problem, I thought they would question me about the tube strapped to the pannier rack that holds my fishing rod, it looks a lot like a mortar tube!
No questions, no problems - by by USA!
I had to wait 3 hours for the new tires to be installed but it was worth it. New Hiedenau Scouts front and rear. Heavy German bad boys that are perfect tires for this segment of the trip and should be able to get me home.
New tires installed I do a quick scub on the new meats as I head to Cache Creek to complete my day.
Wednesday I continue north on Highway 97 to just south of Prince George were I found a great RV park to set up my tent.
My neighbor was retired school principal riding a Suzuki V-Storm. He was headed back to Washington State after touring the Dempster Highway of Alaska up to city of Inuvik.
Joe was a commercial fishing boat Captain in Alaska for 20 years before he became an educator.
He had a lot of great information to share with me about riding in Alaska!
Thursday morning my goal was to get past the city of Fort St. John on the 97.
Tough riding day filled with wind and heavy rain but I did manage to get to the town on Pink Mountain and find a place to stay for the night about 50 miles north of St. John!
Pink Mountain is basically a support town for the oil fracking crews. The rooms are barrack style with a cafeteria style mess hall. Fracking is a big time operation in this region.
The food is pretty good and you won't leave hungry!
The rooms are Spartan at best but have all the necessary amenities. The only thing is is the red colored water!
The hotel issues bottled water for drinking but red water for bathing. They say it's the minerals in the water. You have to wonder why the town is called Pink Mountain?
Or is the "Harmless" fracking operation contaminating the aquifer?
Either way the place is kinda cool and I bet it's a lot like Prudhoe Bay.
Tomorrow I head up toward Fort Nelson still on the 97.
New Scout on the rear.
New Scout on the front. State of the Bad Ass Art!
Cool Pepsi cans here in Canada!
Prince George to Watson Lake on the 97 gets me to Yukon Territory!
We did not cover this sign in traffic school!
Ok I was really looking forward to a shake but I don't think this place is open today!
Oh well have to settle for freeze dried stroganoff. Great coffee though!
Great start to this day!
There are many beautiful lakes and rivers here in BC!
Wild flowers are everywhere as well!
The GSA is drying out over looking the Hope Valley after a long wet ride.
Another view of the Peace River running through the Hope Valley!
The Buffalo Inn houses the Frackers and an occasional motorcycle rider!
The mess hall in Frackville!
Foods good! Pepsi cans are cool!
