Yak Attack! Packwood to Ellensburg - WABDR

Friday morning we headed out of Packwood on Highway 12 and turned left at Tieton Basin about 30 minutes later.
Back in dirt and heading up the mountain we got back in sync fairly quickly guiding the beast's up to alternate route 1500.
The "Easier route" was full of loose rocks and ruts and had us up on the pegs most of the way to Rattlesnake Ranger Station. It just didn't feel easy!
Rhys and I spent a lot of time the night before with maps and our super session with all pro Claudio to find the right work around at the Evans Canyon portion on NR 1711.
Milk Canyon road 1712 was our answer. More rocks, ruts and uphill then anything we hit so far.
Rhys took lead on the uphill and picked a good line with me right behind. Keep moving and don't stop until you reach solid ground. Worked for us!
We ran into Chris and Henry the Canadians we met the day before, up on the ridge close to the "Lookout" at the Microwave tower. Glad to see them for sure!
The Lookout was a great place for photos and then time to get down off this ridge.
My turn to lead the downhill section with Rhys right behind. Same program, keep moving and don't stop!
After the downhill we hiked out to Umtanum Falls to take a look. Very nice place!
The road into Ellensburg was comfortable and well deserved after a hard days ride!
So far so good. Tomorrow we head to Cashmere!
Took a little unscheduled side trip, (Got lost) and ended up here. Lucky for us the US Forest Service truck loaded with crews carrying maps pointed us back on the path. Devil GPS machine foiled us again!
Rattlesnake creek.
Looks like a summit!
Hey you guys actually made it! Chris tells us to leave our pelts in the donation box!
The Microwave towers at the "Lookout". Finally good cell service!
Two nice bikes, one gorgeous day!
Mt. Rainier summit in the foreground, elevation 14,411 feet!
The falls of Umtanum.
Another view from Umtanum falls.
This is what it's like to ride the mighty BMW GS on the WABDR trail!
